India’s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal awaits India’s ODI squad for the upcoming New Zealand ODIs as the southpaw fears missing out despite a century. Notably, the upcoming tour will mark Shubman Gill’s return to the team, making it difficult for the southpaw to cement his place in the playing XI.
Nonetheless, Jaiswal will pose a difficult question to the selectors as he utilised the opportunity presented to him in Gill’s absence during South Africa ODIs. Notably, in the 3rd and final ODI match, Jaiswal stitched a crucial partnership with Virat Kohli and slammed his maiden ODI century to finish the series on a high.
During a 271-run chase, Jaiswal slammed an unbeaten 116 (121), which featured 12 fours and two sixes. Contrary to his style, the southpaw played a slow knock and recently admitted that he was nervous as he was heading towards his maiden ton.
In the latest events, speaking to Vimal Kumar, Jaiswal revisited his knock in 3rd ODI vs South Africa and also credited Virat Kohli for the valuable inputs that helped him score a century. Further, Jaiswal also shed light on Kohli’s mischevious side and revealed that the former India skipper teased him with ‘Tere Naam’ songs during the chase.
Why did Virat Kohli tease Jaiswal with ‘Tere Naam’ songs?
Notably, Jaiswal opted for a new style recently, and it resembled a lot with Salman Khan’s look in Tere Naam. It caught Virat’s attention, and the RCB star has been pulling Jaiswal’s legs since then.
"There is a song called 'Lagan Lag Gayi Re'. So Kohli was singing that song to me and dancing. That was a fun conversation. Even before I went to bat, he was telling me things. His sense of humour is great, and he is very funny. But when he is serious, the entire world knows the level of intensity with which he plays. I really enjoy playing with him," he said on sports journalist Vimal Kumar's YouTube channel.
Notably, a clip too had went viral on the internet after the game, where Virat grooved to a Tere Naam song in front of Yashasvi Jaiswal to tease the southpaw over his new look.
