The fifth day of the ongoing Ashes Test between England and Australia witnessed an incredible fightback by the home side, courtesy of a scintillating knock from skipper Ben Stokes. However, another incident that took the limelight was the dismissal of English keeper-batter Jonny Bairstow, who was run out in a bizarre fashion by his Australian counterpart Alex Carey.

After ducking a well-directed shot ball from Cameron Green, Bairstow quickly moved out of his crease with the ball still in play. Seeing the batter jogging outside the crease at the striker's end, Carey executed a smart piece of glove work, dislodging the bails and compelling him to make his way back to the dugout.

However, Carey's act didn't go well with the English crowd, who booed the Australian players. As the visitors proceeded for lunch, the spectators irritated them with 'cheat' chants in the long room.

Things went too far when Australian opener Usman Khawaja was annoyed by the crowd's behaviour and went on to confront one of the MCC members. However, one of the security personnel took the matter into his hands and calmed things down, pulling Khawaja away from sight.

Regarding the game, England stormed their way back into the match, thanks to a counterattacking hundred from Stokes. However, after his departure, their chance of winning the game seems bleak at the moment, as they still need 70 runs with three wickets in hand.
