The first session on day five of the ongoing Lord's Test witnessed a proper see-saw battle between arch-rivals England and Australia. After the visitors got rid of Ben Duckett and Jonny Bairstow in quick succession, the hosts stormed their way back into the game, courtesy of a remarkable counterattack from skipper Ben Stokes.

Barring Stokes' glorious stroke play, an incident that took the limelight was Jonny Bairstow's comical run-out. The English keeper-batter joined Stokes in the middle after Duckett's departure and immediately struck two boundaries, racing to ten runs in no time. However, his brief stay in the middle was terminated by Alex Carey, who ran him out after he stepped out of his crease at the striker's end with the ball still in play.

Although Carey received massive applause for his street-smart piece of glove-work, his action wasn't perceived well by the English fans, who booed him, chanting 'same old Aussies, always cheating'.

Bairstow's dismissal ignited the spark in Stokes as he unleashed his beast mode to take the Australian bowlers to the cleaners. The English captain went berserk, particularly against Cameron Green, completing his hundred in just 141 deliveries. His onslaught propelled England to 243 for six before the players headed towards the pavilion for the lunch break.
