In the opening match, T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off with a historic match between co-hosts USA and Canada in Dallas.

Chasing the target, the USA lost a couple of early wickets, they lost opener Steven Taylor for a golden duck. Monank Patel and Andries Gous stuck around for a while and added 42 for the second wicket.

But momentum came back with contributions from Aaron Jones (94 runs off 40 balls) alongside a solid partnership with Andries Gous (65 runs 46 balls). He alongside Gous, added a brilliant 131 for the third wicket in less than ten overs.

In 15.4 overs Gous's explosive knock came to an end as he was not able to judge the bowl from Nikhil Dutta and well misjudged the shot. He did not get enough time on the stroke and picked up Aaron Johnson at the long-on boundary.

The historic partnership between Jones and Gous for the United States came to an end.

Earlier in the match USA won the toss and their decision to bowl first after Canada put a whopping total of 194/5 on the board with significant contributions from Navneed Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton.

For the USA, Corey Anderson, Ali Khan and Harmeet Singh bagged one wicket each while two dismissals were run-outs.

There is not much to talk about Canada's bowling performance, although they started well with the ball but once the USA counter-attacked, it all went downhill for Canada. USA beat Canada by seven wickets in the opening fixture of the T20 World Cup 2024. Aaron Jones scored an unbeaten 94* (40) to help his side chase down 197 in 17.4 overs.
