In a recent BPL fixture between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders, Tamim Iqbal went all out against Pakistan veteran Iftikhar Ahmed. With a stupendous six on the first ball, he amassed a total of 18 runs from that over to put Ahmed on the backfoot.

In the 13th fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024-25 season, Fortune Barishal faced Rangpur Riders at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The former were asked to bat first, and openers Tamim Iqbal and Najmul Shanto launched an 81-run partnership to provide a perfect start. Both players were having a go at the opposition bowling unit. However, Tamim targeted senior all-rounder from Pakistan, Iftikhar Ahmed.

Iftikhar was summoned to bowl the 8th over of the first inning. While his role was to pick wickets and put a stoppage at the blow of runs, the veteran ended up accelerating the Barishal’s innings.

Tamim Iqbal showed no mercy. On the very first delivery, he danced down the track to pick up Iftikhar Ahmed’s fuller delivery and dumped it into the stands for a maximum. The powerful shot cleared the long-on boundary with ease as Barishal brought up 50 runs on the board.

However, Tamim’s carnage had just begun. He had two more boundaries in the over to accumulate a total of 18 runs from the Iftikhar’s over.

Tamim Iqbal was dismissed by Kamrul Islam on 40 off 34 balls. However, his blazing start offered a perfect stage for Fortune Barishal to capitalise on the momentum and finish with a big score.
