The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is never short of drama, but this time, the action spilled over after the game. A thrilling match between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders ended in chaos as Tamim Iqbal and Alex Hales were caught in an explosive exchange that had everyone talking.
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium saw emotions boil over as the Barishal skipper let his frustration show, turning the post-match handshake into a heated showdown.
What Triggered Tamim Iqbal?
The incident started during the handshake line. Reports suggest that Hales made a face that Tamim found disrespectful. That was enough to push Tamim Iqbal over the edge.
The usually calm and composed Tamim stormed toward Hales, reportedly saying, “Why are you behaving this way? If you have something to say, say it to my face. Act like a man.”
Alex Hales didn’t stay silent either and reportedly replied, which only made things worse. Tamim ignored everyone trying to calm him down, including Rangpur skipper Nurul Hasan, and kept moving toward Hales, visibly angry.
It took Rangpur’s team director, Shanian Tanim, and Barishal’s staff to hold Tamim back and diffuse the situation.

Nurul Hasan’s Reaction
Even Nurul Hasan, fresh off a stunning last-over performance, seemed surprised by the incident. “I wasn’t close enough to hear what happened,” he said later. “I only saw the end when people were trying to calm Tamim down. Something definitely happened, but I don’t know what it was.”
Nurul, who had just delivered one of the best performances of the tournament, probably wasn’t expecting to spend the post-match celebrations playing peacemaker.
Barishal vs Riders Highlights
Before the drama unfolded, the game itself was a nail-biter. Fortune Barishal, batting first, posted a commanding 197/5, thanks to contributions from Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Kyle Mayers, and Faheem Ashraf.
But Rangpur Riders weren’t going down without a fight. Chasing nearly 200 runs, they stayed in the game thanks to Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah.
However, the real hero was Nurul Hasan, who turned the impossible into reality. With 26 runs needed off the final over, Nurul smashed three sixes and three fours off Kyle Mayers to seal a jaw-dropping win for Rangpur.
