On a tricky surface at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, Surykumar Yadav had to give India a strong finish against Australia in the final of the World Cup 2023. However, coming to bat at No. 6, the Mumbai Indians batsman failed miserably, having managed 18 off 28 balls before Josh Hazlewood got the better of him during the 48th over of India's innings.

Having been invited to bat, Rohit Sharma gave India an aggressive start yet agin. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals before Virat Kohli and KL Rahul rebuilt the innings. After that, just when both of them were about to break the shackles, they fell, and India's lower middle-order batsman gave little support to give their team a fitting finish after Rohit's blitz.

The biggest dissappointment above all was Suryakumar Yadav, who seemed uncomfortable throughout his stay in the middle. In fact, Kuldeep Yadav, when came to bat at No. 10, kept on running on the last ball to keep the strike, whereas Suryakumar had no confidence to take charge eventually before falling to Hazlewood.

Hazlewood gave Suryakumar no pace to deal with, and the latter became frustrated to see that. Then, a slow delivery pitched on short length did the job, as SKY went for a pull, only to get a big top edge before Josh Inglis took a simple catch to end his scrappy knock.
