Suryakumar Yadav seems to be going through a challenging phase with the bat. The Indian T20I captain has been struggling to find his form in the ongoing series against England. After a disappointing 3-ball duck in the first T20I, the second match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on January 25 didn’t bring any relief for him either.

India’s chase of 166 began with early setbacks as the team lost Sanju Samson for just 5 runs, falling victim to Jofra Archer. Suryakumar Yadav walked in with the pressure mounting, as India had already lost two wickets in quick succession. Alongside Tilak Varma, the captain aimed to stabilise the innings, but luck didn’t favour him.

In the 6th over of India’s innings, disaster struck for SKY. Facing Brydon Carse, who was bowling his first over, Suryakumar tried to defend a hard-length delivery angled in from outside off. The ball, clocking 141.9 kmph, took an inside edge off his bat and deflected onto the stumps. SKY was dismissed for just 12 runs, leaving India at 39 for 3 inside the powerplay.

England Dominate Against India

Earlier in the game, India won the toss and chose to bowl first. The bowlers gave the team a promising start by removing England openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett cheaply for 4 and 3 runs, respectively. However, England’s captain Jos Buttler played a steady knock, scoring 45 runs, while debutant Jamie Smith chipped in with a handy 22. Brydon Carse contributed a quickfire cameo, helping England reach a respectable 165 for 9.

At the time of writing, India’s innings looked shaky, with the team struggling at 66 for 6 in 7.4 overs.
