In the ongoing eighth match of the CPL 2024, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are locking horns against the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

Earlier in the match, the Falcons were put into bat after Kieron Pollard, the skipper of the  Knight Riders, won the toss.

Imad Wasim Plays Crucial Knock For Falcons

The Falcons got off to a strong start with openers Fakhar Zaman and Justin Greaves making a solid 65-run partnership during the powerplay. Greaves played aggressively and scored a quick-fire 37 off 19 balls before Sunil Narine got him stumped on the penultimate ball of the powerplay.

However, Roshon Primus to No. 3 could not contribute much as he struggled to accelerate and scored 19 off 26 balls. His slow pace put pressure on the set Fakhar Zaman, who was dismissed after a 38-run knock from 26 balls.

Imad Wasim injected some much-needed momentum with a blistering 46 off 29 balls, with much-needed support from Fabian Allen, who smashed 25* off 11 balls to help the Falcons post a competitive total.

Sunil Narine Fails To Perform For Trinbago Knight Riders

Chasing a challenging target, the Trinbago Knight Riders suffered an early blow as Sunil Narine, fresh off a strong bowling performance, was dismissed for a duck in the second over.

Chris Green, leading from the front for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, took the crucial wicket. Kofi James completed a straightforward catch near the boundary.

The incident occurred in the 2nd over when Chris Green bowled around the wicket and delivered a full ball on off stump.

Sunil Narine attempted to clear long-on but failed to time the shot properly and further, the ball went straight into the hands of James, who comfortably took the catch just inside the ropes.

This early dismissal of the dangerous Narine put the Knight Riders under pressure in their high-stakes chase.

It is important to mention that after the wicket of Narine,  Andries Gous and Shaqkere Parris established a much-needed partnership of 62 runs in 47 balls. At the time of writing, Knight Riders have lost three wickets at 72 runs.
