The 9th match of BBL 14 between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers featured a promising thriller packed with rampant action. However, luck turned his back on Heat batter Matt Renshaw as he attempted a shot that called upon his own doom.

Lloyd Pope, the Strikers bowler, was overjoyed as Renshaw's innings ended abruptly when a mistimed scoop shot crashed into the stumps off of his own body. For a heartbreak, the unfortunate dismissal came when he was creating the storm for the Strikers.

Renshaw's Agonising Fate: Dismisses Himself Off Of A Scoop!

In the fourth ball of the 10th over, Matt Renshaw, who had just smashed his first 50 of the tournament, met with bizarre fate as he played a shot that bowled him over.

As Lloyd Pope came in around the wicket with a good-length delivery outside off, Renshaw shuffled across the stumps and attempted to scoop the ball over the keeper in the fine leg region.

However, the ball hit the upper handle of the bat and was directed towards his waist. After hitting his waist, the ball deflected towards the stumps crashed on them as Renshaw was left speechless standing and watching his own dismissal.

Lloyd celebrated, though he had very little to do with the wicket. Renshaw, meanwhile, was disappointed with his performance as he was sent back after a solid 54 off 27 balls.

McSweeney Sweeps Strikers With Massive Knock

In the match, Brisbane Heat won the toss and came in to bowl first. Their decision was successful as Matthew Short and D'Arcy Short were scalped within the powerplay, leaving the Strikers at 21-2. However, Jamie Overton (45 off 24), Alex Ross (20 off 15), and James Bazley (11 off 23) came in with their quickfire to anchor the Strikers to a total of 174 for 6 at the end of 20 overs.

In response, Brisbane Heat also stumbled initially, with their openers gone within the powerplay, thanks to Henry Thornton. However, Nathan McSweeney was dangerous with the bat and proved his might with a blistering 77 runs off 49 balls. He single-handedly took the match away from the Strikers with significant aid from Renshaw and Paul Walter.

Notably, for Heat, Will Prestwidge was the pick of the bowler and Nathan McSweeney was the player of the match as they registered their second win of BBL 14.
