The Punjab Kings have been one of the most underperforming teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. Every year they give their best like all the other teams and form a squad. However, when it comes to execution on the field, they miss out.

In most of the seasons, we have seen the Punjab Kings starting in a great note but the momentum drops as the tournament progresses. With another chance to rebuild a squad and emerge as better challengers to the title, PBKS will look to retain a few of their players who performed really well during the IPL 2024.

Here are three players that the Punjab Kings might look to retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega-auction.

1.Arshdeep Singh

The rise of Arshdeep Singh as a death overs specialist has come to the fore since his time with the franchise. The left-arm Indian bowler has proven himself to be an integral part of the PBKS set-up. He has given some game-changing performances for them and at present is an intricate and valuable part of the squad.

The fact that Indian pacers and that to left-armers are priceless in the league, it is more or less a surety that Arshdeep Singh will be retained by Punjab Kings.

2. Ashutosh Sharma

The young middle-order batter emerged as a powerful and efficient finisher during the IPL 2024 season. Ashutosh Sharma played some very useful, impactful and dynamic knocks for the team. The best part of this performances was the maturity and composure that he showed. Along with Shashank Singh, Ashutosh brought PBKS back into a couple of games from almost impossible situations. Given the he performed, the PBKS management might look to hold onto him as long as possible. Sharma might be one of those players around whom PBKS build their new team.

3. Sam Curran

This young English all-rounder has led the team in quite a few matches in the last two seasons, in absence of their regular skipper, Shikhar Dhawan. Even though the team did not get the desired results, Sam Curran seemed to be sorted as a leader in most cases. Besides he also delivered himself with both the bat and the ball under pressure situations.

One might argue the retention of Shashank Singh or Kagiso Rabada over Curran. But given the leadership qualities he brings to the table and the fact that he is now an integral part of the team culture, PBKS might look to retain him ahead of others if there are three options for the teams.
