The Indian women team is taking on the Sri Lankan women team in the final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024. The match is being played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. 

Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. The Indian opening duo of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave the team a soldi start. They stitched a partnership of 44 runs from 38 deliveries and set the stage for the middle order to capitalise on it. 

Smriti Mandhana scores a stable and steady half-century

However, Uma Chetry and Harmanpreet Kaur were not able to contribute significantly. They scored 9 and 11 respectively leaving the Indian boat rocking in wild waters. However, Smriti Mandhana held one end steady for the team. She continued to bat from one and kept the score board ticking.

Smriti Mandhana went past the fifty mark off 36 deliveries and made the Sri Lankan team pay for the catch that they dropped when she was batting at 10. This fifty has also put Mandhana in the second spot of the list for the most 50 plus scores in the Women's T20Is. 

Mandhana was dismissed after she scored 60 off 47 balls. Notably, this was her second consecutive half-centiury. She scored 55* off 39 deliveries against Bangladesh in the semi final of the tournament.
