As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the men's team for the Asian Games 2023, Twitter could not remain calm.

Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the squad boasts of youngsters, with the selectors probably hinting at their priorities in the T20 format.

Out of many developments, a major one has to be the exclusion of Shikhar Dhawan. Though there were reports that Dhawan could captain India at the Hangzhou Asian Games, he, surprisingly, has not found a place in the squad announced on Friday.

While many believe that the selectors and the team management have moved ahead of the veteran in the white-ball formats, this could also mean that Dhawan might be picked for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will clash with the Asian Games.

Here are some of the best Twitter reactions:

Amongst the fresh faces, Rinku Singh, who received his maiden India call-up, is also included. While there was a brouhaha over his non-selection for the West Indies T20Is, the fans cannot keep their excitement in control as the prodigy could finally make his much-awaited India debut soon.

The men's cricket event in the Asian Games 2023 is scheduled from September 23 to October 8. This will be the first time India will take part in the competition.
