One of the major concerns for Pakistan on their ongoing three-Test tour of Australia has been their sloppy fielding on the field, which has often robbed the visiting side of momentum and chances across both completed first and second matches.

Day 4 of the second Test at Melbourne, which concluded today with Australia clinching the encounter by 78 runs, witnessed shoddy scenes in the morning session, where Pakistan's fielding once again grabbed the limelight.

The fielding lapse took place in the 74th over of Australia's second innings, which resulted in batters Pat Cummins and Alex Carey running five runs off a single ball against Aamer Jamal.

On the third delivery, Cummins pushed a full-length ball towards the cover region, where batters ran two, however, the return throw towards the bowlers' end turned out to be a bit wayward, where Shaheen Afridi missed the ball, as the batter ran another three runs, to complete five runs.

This is not the first time that such careless fielding has cost Pakistan runs. A similar incident happened during the first Test at Perth, where an overthrow from Babar Azam went for a boundary after batters completed two runs.

In the second Test, Pakistan were guilty of dropping as many as three catches, which if taken could have impacted the match, forcing a different result.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will look to deny Australia a clean sweep when both teams clash against each other in the third and final Test on January 3 in Sydney.
