Riding on a spectacular six-fer from Mohammed Siraj, India rattled Sri Lanka for a paltry 50-run total in the ongoing Asia Cup final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Batting first, the Lankans fell like a pack of cards, eventually being bundled out for just 50 runs, recording the lowest-ever total in Asia Cup history.

Lowest-ever total in ODI Asia Cups

  • Sri Lanka: 50
  • Bangladesh: 87
  • Nepal: 104
  • Hong Kong: 105
  • Pakistan: 122

After opting to bat first under testing conditions, Sri Lanka had a disastrous start to their innings, losing swashbuckling batter Kusal Perera in the first over. However, the real torture began in the very next over, with Siraj dismissing four Lankan batters in six deliveries.

The lanky seamer from Hyderabad continued his onslaught on the home team, getting rid of Dasun Shanaka and Dunith Wellalage in quick succession. Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya did the rest, scalping three wickets and bundling Sri Lanka out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs.

Kusal Mendis top-scored for Sri Lanka with a 34-ball 17, while Dushan Hemantha was the only other batter to breach the two-digit mark. All the other players got out for single-digit scores as the hosts achieved the shameful feat.
