[Watch] Shubman Gill Drops A Dolly; Coetzee Spared While Ashwin In 'Complete Shock'

You can’t expect fielding blunders from your teammates, particularly when your team are having a tough phase against the opposition. However, India's talented youngster Shubman Gill did exactly that on Thursday (December 28) during Day 3 of India’s first Test of the two-match series against South Africa, taking place at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

It was a tossed-up delivery by Ravichandran Ashwin, who wanted an attacking shot from Gerald Coetzee. The South African all-rounder did what he wished for, as he went for a reverse hit against the off-spinner. However, he failed miserably, as the ball went straight towards Shubman Gill at first slip.

Unfortunately, Gill did not expect it coming, and as a result, he made a mess of a simple catch. Ashwin was in utter shock to see Gill drop an easy catch in that manner, and rightly so, could not control his frustration.

Thankfully, the dropped catch did not damage India that much, as Ashwin dismissed Coetzee in the following over with brilliance. As of writing, South Africa, however, in complete control, posting 392/7 after batting 100 overs in reply of India’s 245 in the first innings.
