In a gripping session of Test cricket at Vizag, England's Zak Crawley's aggressive innings came to a halt at 76 off 78 deliveries on the second day of the ongoing second Test against India. Crawley, who had been dominating the Indian bowling attack with a display of bold and assertive batting, fell prey to Axar Patel shortly after the drinks break, bringing an end to an innings that looked set to change the game's complexion.

IND vs ENG: Axar-Shreyas combine to dismiss Crawley

Zak Crawley's innings, marked by 11 boundaries and two sixes was a spectacle of his exceptional timing and fearless approach. However, his audacious attempt to escalate the scoring rate against Patel led to his downfall.

The dismissal occurred during the 23rd over when Crawley, buoyed by a boundary off the previous ball, decided to take on Patel again. Advancing down the track, Crawley aimed for another big hit, but Patel, anticipating his move, bowled a wider delivery. This slight alteration in line and length meant Crawley could not connect as intended, resulting in a toe-ended slog.

The ball soared towards backward point, where Shreyas Iyer ran back quickly and executed a remarkable diving catch. Iyer's athleticism and presence of mind ensured that Crawley's threatening innings was cut short, much to the relief of the Indian team and spectators alike.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, India posted a formidable first-innings total of 396, bolstered by Yashasvi Jaiswal's double century - his first in Test cricket. England's response was robust from the outset, with Crawley leading the charge. However, the loss of Ben Duckett to Kuldeep Yadav did little to slow down Crawley until Axar's brilliance.

At Crawley's departure, England's scoreboard read 118/2 after 23 overs, with Ollie Pope and Joe Root at the crease, aiming to build on the foundation laid. England, trailing by 278 runs has set the stage for an intriguing contest as they seek to narrow the deficit and challenge India's position in the match.
