[Watch] Shreyas Iyer Redeems Himself, Does 'Fiery' Celebration After Century vs AUS

A few batsmen look more beautiful to witness than Shreyas Iyer when he is batting at his best. The 28-year-old, however, experienced some discouraging months prior to the recently concluded Asia Cup because of injury concerns. In fact, due to back spasms, he was not fit enough to regularly participate in that competition either.

When everyone thought Shreyas Iyer wouldn't be fit for the forthcoming ODI World Cup, the stylish batter proved them wrong on Sunday (September 24) by smashing an astonishing century against Australia at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore during the second of three ODIs.

Shreyas Iyer had a disappointing show in Mohali on Friday, getting dismissed for an eight-ball three courtesy of an unnecessary run-out. Given Suryakumar Yadav's improving form and Ishan Kishan's recent consistency, many people believed the Indore match could be a do-or-die for the middle-order batsman.

Shreyas, however, demonstrated that he is here to stay and is not planning on leaving for anyone. He brought up his third ODI century in his 46th appearance in the 50-over format, laced with ten fours and three sixes to get to the three-digit mark.

Unsurprisingly, Shreyas celebrated his milestone aggressively, as he took off his helmet and roared with delight towards the dressing room.

At the time of writing, Shreyas fell after scoring 105 off 90 balls, while Shubman Gill is going equally strong, on 95* off 84 balls. Riding on their dominance, India have reached 216/2 in 30.5 overs.
