India’s star batter, Shreyas Iyer, surprised everyone by showcasing his bowling skills in the Buchi Babu Tournament 2024 on August 27. His unique style, reminiscent of his IPL teammate, Sunil Narine, instantly caught the eye of many fans.

During the match between TNCA XI and Mumbai, Mumbai’s captain, Sarfaraz Khan, made an interesting decision. With the day coming to a close, he opted to give the ball to Shreyas Iyer to bowl, a move that added an unexpected twist to the game.

It was the 90th over of the TNCA’s innings. Shreyas Iyer gripped the ball behind his back and ran up to the bowling crease, imitating his IPL star player, West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine. He did not quite have the same success, though, going wicketless and conceding seven runs.


At the end of the first day, TNCA XI managed to reach a respectable score of 294 -5 after 90 overs.

Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav, integral parts of Mumbai’s squad, are eyeing a Test comeback. While SKY may not be in BCCI's Test plans, he has shown interest to play in all three formats. 

Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, has not been in the mix of things for India in red-ball cricket. While Iyer got plenty of opportunities after a fiery start in Test career at home, he failed to keep the good work going before losing his BCCI central contracts.
