India women’s team all-rounder Shreyanka Patil struck in her first over of the ongoing T20I match between India Women and Bangladesh Women to remove the dangerous-looking Sobhana Mostary and deliver a significant blow to the home team.

It was the sixth over of the first innings and Shreyanka’s first over. The young off-spinner didn’t start well as she was welcomed to her spell with a boundary off the very first ball. However, Shreyanka Patil bounced back to bowl back-to-back dot balls before eventually dismissing Sobhana on the fourth delivery.

It was a nicely tossed-up delivery on a fuller length, drifting in on middle and off. Sobhana Mostary looked to sweep it across but played down the wrong line and got trapped in front. It looked plumb, and the umpire had no hesitation in ruling it out.

Later, in the 11th over of the first innings, Shreyanka outfoxed Sultana Khatun to claim her second wicket of the game. Again, it was a tossed-up delivery around off, tempting Sultana Khatun to play the big shot, and she obliged. However, she only managed to miscue it towards mid-off, where Shafali Varma took an easy catch.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. They got off to a decent start with 43 runs in the first six overs. However, things changed quickly once spin was introduced by Harmanpreet Kaur.

Seven of the ten wickets fell to spinners, with Radha Yadav being the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Deepti Sharma and Deepti bagged two wickets each as Bangladesh were restricted to 119-10 in their allotted 20 overs.

India have started off their chase positively, scoring 47-1 inside 5.2 overs, but rain has paused play at Sylhet on Tuesday.
