Bangladesh Women will be hosting their Indian counterparts in the second T20I of their five-match series on April 30. With ‘Women in Blue’ winning the first match and taking a 1-0 lead, it becomes important for the Bangladesh team to bounce back and bring the series to levelling terms. The much-awaited contest will be staged at the iconic Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

BAN-W vs IND-W 2nd T20I: Team Previews

Bangladesh Women

The Bangladesh Women’s cricket team entered the series with a four-game losing streak to its name in T20Is. Moreover, their defeat at the hands of Team India in the series-opener further extended their winless run a couple of days ago at Sylhet.

Bowling first, Rabeya Khan led Bangladesh’s attack against India by picking up three key wickets in the form of Shafali Verma, top-scorer Yastika Bhatia and Sajeevan Sajana to finish with figures of 3-23. Marufa Akter also seized two scalps with the ball as Bangladesh restricted India to just 145-7.

Chasing 146 for a win, Bangladesh’s batting line-up crumbled in front of India’s collective brilliance, with new-ball fast bowler Renuka Singh leading the act for the visiting party.

Under the leadership of Nigar Sultana, a battered and bruised Bangladesh unit need to bounce back in the second T20I to level up the five-match series.

India Women

With successive T20I series defeats at the hands of England and Australia earlier this year, the Indian Women’s team need to pile on their opening triumph at Sylhet in a bid to sustain their newfound winning momentum. Moreover, the ongoing series also serves as a prelude for both sides ahead of this year’s Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka.

In the series-opener on April 28, opener Shafali Verma and middle-order batters Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur all shaped valiant 30s before a late batting collapse restricted India’s total to 145-7.

In the second half of the game, new-ball fast bowler Renuka Thakur wrecked Bangladesh’s top-order alongside Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar. Thakur ended up collecting astonishing figures of 3-18 and was adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ for her efforts.

BAN-W vs IND-W 2nd T20I: Sylhet Pitch Report

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet tends to provide considerable assistance to spinners, with something on offer for the fast bowlers as well. Even in the series-opening first T20I played at the venue, the two teams managed to stack just 246 runs across 40 overs combined, with the victors scoring 145 off those runs while batting first. Scoring might get difficult for the chasing sides considering the slow nature of the wicket.
