The exclusion of Ravi Bishnoi from India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad has sparked controversy and dismay across social media platforms. Despite his stellar performances in India colours, Bishnoi found himself sidelined by the BCCI selectors ahead of the showpiece event.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan expressed his disappointment with the decision, questioning the selectors' rationale behind overlooking Bishnoi.

As the current sixth-ranked leg-spinner in the ICC T20I rankings, Bishnoi's omission raised eyebrows and drew criticism from fans and experts alike. Interestingly, the 23-year-old became Number 1 ranked T20 bowler a couple of months ago.

Pathan took to his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), to voice his concerns, joining the chorus of dissent against the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.

"If I am sitting pretty at 6th in (on) the ICC T20I rankings, but not in the (T20) World Cup lineup, it’s a tough pill to swallow," Pathan quote on his social media handle.

The decision not only left Bishnoi's supporters disheartened but also reignited debates about the transparency and consistency of the selection process.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, IPL's highest wicket-taker, in the T20 World Cup squad added another layer of complexity to the discussion.

Chahal's return to the national side after missing the previous ODI World Cup 2023 stirred contrasting reactions, further fuelling the ongoing discourse.
