The Guyana Amzaon Warriors and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are currently engaged in a run-fest in yhe seventh match of the CPL 2024. The match is being played at the Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Imran Tahir, the captain of the Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and opted to bat first in the game. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shimron Hetmyer played the role of chief destructors for the Warriors as they thrashed the bowlers of the Patriots to all parts of the ground.  

Gurbaz and Hetmyer's hitting take the Warriors to a record total

Both Gurbaz and Hetmyer went past their half-centuries and even though Gurbaz did not continue for long after that, Hetmyer looked unstoppable. The southpaw scored 91 runs off 39 deliveries and powered his team towards record breaking total. Contributions of Keemo Paul (38 off 14 deliveries) and Dwaine Pretorius (13 off 5 deliveries) helped the Warriors reach a total of 266/7 in their 20 overs. It is the highest total of CPL 2024 and is also the second highest in the history of the tournament. 

Rutherford patrnered Fletcher in the chase

The Patriots were under pressure as they had to chase a CPL record down to break their two match losing streak. They started in just the perfect way to get close to the massive target. Even though they lost the previous game's centurion, Evin Lewis, early in the innings, Andre Fletcher and Sherfane Rutherford ensured that they caught up with the required run rate. 

Rutherford was particularly severe on Imran Tahir. The southpaw welcomed the former South African intertnational with a brutal hit over the stands. It was the first delivery of the seventh over, in which Tahir bowled a full delivery at the off stump. Rutherford planted his front foot ahead and muscles the ball out of the stands for a 104 meters huge six. He followed up this brutal hit with another maximum of the next ball.

Even though Rutherford looked settled for a impactful knock, he was not able to scored more than 34 runs. But the fact that it came off just 12 deliveries did help the Patriots in pursuit of the huge target.
