Shardul Thakur in action [X.com]
India's man with a golden arm, Shardul Thakur, proved his worth with the ball for the umpteenth time during the ongoing Asia Cup fixture against Bangladesh, as he dismissed Shakib Al Hasan with a magical delivery. After losing four quick wickets inside 14 overs, Bangladesh made a remarkable comeback in the match, courtesy of a fighting stand between Shakib and Towhid Hridoy. However, Thakur scripted India's fightback, dismissing the Tigers' captain for a 85-ball 80.
The incident occurred in the 34th over when Shakib and Hridoy were guiding Bangladesh towards a daunting total.
Rohit Sharma's decision to bring Thakur for another spell proved to be a masterstroke, as he castled Shakib, providing his side with a prized breakthrough.
It was a scrambled seam delivery, which came back into Shakib only to be deflected off the inside half of his bat to shatter his stumps. His dismissal brought a sigh of relief for India, who quickly got rid of swashbuckling batter Shamim Hossain to push Bangladesh on the back foot.
As of writing, Bangladesh are in a spot of bother, placed at 169 for six in 36 overs, with Hridoy and Nasum Ahmed batting on 41* and 7*, respectively.
