Shaheen Afridi's fielding effort (Source:@kuchbhi12341416/X.com)
Shaheen Afridi is known for his genuine wicket-taking abilities and is the leader of Pakistan's bowling attack. He is a critical asset for Men in Green in their quest to defend their Champions Trophy title and is showing decent form with the ball. He is currently playing against South Africa in the tri-series and delivered a wicket with the new ball for his side as well.
However, he had to face a slight embarrassment while fielding in the 45th over where he fumbled while stopping a boundary and ended up falling in a pretty awkward position. The stop was quite straightforward according to the standards of international cricket, but Shaheen could not stop the ball and it resulted in a boundary for South Africa.
Klaasen Demolishes Pakistan With A Stunning 87
Abrar Ahmed was the bowler and Heinrich Klaasen came up with a reverse-hit that went uppishly between short third man and backward point. Afridi at short third man ran all the way towards the ball, and at one point in time it looked like he would cut it off easily. However, he mistimed his dive and even the position was wrong.
He then tried to redeem himself by trying to stop it just inside the rope but failed again and it turned out to be quite a funny moment. Pakistan players are generally not known to be great fielders and Shaheen's effort once again reaffirmed that fact.
Klaasen eventually departed on 87, but he smashed his runs in just 56 balls and it enabled the Proteas to get to a massive total of 352 in their allotted 50 overs.
