Rohit Sharma's unique celebration (Source:@StarSports)
In the much-anticipated ongoing third ODI between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh provided a crucial breakthrough, as he dismissed Ben Duckett for 34 runs off 22 balls in the 7th over of England’s chase.
With England looking steady in their pursuit, Arshdeep Singh delivered a slower ball and the strategy worked wonders for 'Men in Blue'. The ace pacer bowls over the wicket and delivers well-disguised length ball around off. The ball deceived Ben Duckett who attempted a wild swing across the line. However, he only managed a leading edge high into the air, and Rohit Sharma made no mistake, settling underneath to complete a safe catch.
The Indian captain, was all-pumped up after taking the catch, celebrating with raw energy and enthusiasm. Rohit's animated reaction showcased the significance of the wicket, as Duckett’s dismissal broke England’s opening partnership.
India’s Batting Effort Sets the Tone
Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, India saw Rohit Sharma depart cheaply. However, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Gill’s seventh ODI ton helped India to push to a strong position. Following his dismissal, Shreyas Iyer took charge before England struck back, and removed Iyer and Hardik Pandya in quick succession.
At the time of writing this article, England are at 90 runs at the loss of two wickets. The team has lost both the openers with Arshdeep Singh taking both the wickets. Tom Banton and Joe Root are currently batting at the crease.
