After Peshawar Zalmi's top order caused destruction in the powerplay, Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan took responsibility and struck twice in an over to allow his side a fighting chance in the thrilling encounter.

Peshawar Zalmi, coming off a thumping win over defending champions Lahore Qalandars, came out to face Islamabad United at Lahore earlier today. Zalmi openers Babar Azam and Saim Ayub carried forward their sublime form and unleashed fury in the powerplay.

Ayub was sent back in the eighth over by Agha Salman, and Shadab Khan used his tactical brilliance to create pressure on the new batter.

He turned up with the ball and caught Mohammad Haris in the first delivery of the ninth over. Haris tried to slam Shadab's tossed-up delivery outside the off-stump line over long off but missed the timing and played it back to Khan, who completed the catch on the second attempt.

The initial fumble stopped the United fans' heartbeat for a split second, but fortunately, the captain kept his nerves.

In the same over, Zalmi's emerging player, Haseebullah Khan, missed a reverse sweep and was struck on pads. Shadab Khan's appeal was withheld, but Haseebullah decided to challenge the call regardless.

Islamabad United's scars from the previous game's bizarre DRS call weren't healed yet, and thus, the fielders looked nervous.

But technology didn't disappoint this time, and it was the umpire's call on wickets hitting that was enough to send Haseebullah Khan back to the dressing room.

Shadab Khan's golden arm brought life to his one-sided game, and it will surely impact Peshawar Zalmi's final score at the end of the first innings.

Having said that, to restrict the Zalmi to a bare minimum score, Islamabad United needs to get rid of Babar Azam. He is looking solid and will switch gears in the death overs.
