Rovman Powell, the current West Indies skipper and the member of Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL is leading Barbados Royals in Caribbean Premier League 2024 and they have won all their three games so far. However, in the 15th match of the season against Trinbago Knight Riders, Royals were put under pressure by disciplined bowling and they lost four wickets with just 59 on the board.

Rovman Powell then walked out to the middle and did what a captain needs to do when his team is under the pump - lead from the front. Powell did that fantastically and delivered a lone-warrior effort to take his team to a competitive total. He needed to weather the storm early in his knock with TKR spinners bowling well, and Powell tackled that phase with great confidence and calmness.

Carnage After Caution From Rovman Powell

David Miller gave  Powell company for sometime, but he too could not last long and it all came down to him in the end. So, after a cautious start, Rovman Powell stepped on the accelerator in the last few overs and smashed five massive sixes. One of those sixes was against Jayden Seales on the second delivery of the final over which took him to his fifty as well.

It was a full toss around waist height from 'round the wicket by Jayden Seales and Powell launched it over deep square leg for a maximum. The ball went deep into the stands and on the fourth delivery of the same over, Powell tonked another one as Barbados Royals finished with 156 on the board.

Spinners Lead The Way For TKR

For Trinbago Knight Riders, their spinners led the way. Akeal Hosein grabbed two wickets in the very first over, and then Sunil Narine and Waqar Salamkheil bowled brilliantly in the middle overs. The duo picked five wickets between them, and with the target not a big one, TKR would fancy themselves to chase this one.
