Rajasthan Royals had a lot of hope when they bought Rovman Powell in the IPL auction. But with almost the entire season done and dusted, the West Indies T20I captain has failed to deliver the goods.

In the crucial league stage match against the Punjab Kings, RR once again crumbled under pressure as Powell was dismissed by the wily Rahul Chahar for a meagre 4 off 5 deliveries. The Punjab spinner used his reflex to perfection and took a smart catch to send the RR all-rounder back in the hut.

Samson disappointed after Powell's wicket

RR were already on the back-foot when Powell came at the crease. He had the monumental task of resurrecting the innings, but the West Indian player gave a simple catch to Chahar on his follow-through and lost his wicket in the process. The ball travelled quickly towards the leg-spinner, who was razor sharp in his instincts and took a blinder to end Powell's scratchy innings.

As PBKS celebrated the wicket, the Rajasthan skipper, Sanju Samson was visibly distraught and almost broke down as his team failed against the Punjab Kings' attack.

At one stage of the IPL 2024, RR were the table toppers, but the momentum shifted when they lost 3 matches in a row, and are in danger of losing the ongoing contest as well.
