Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon received massive applause from all corners of the world as he stepped into the field to bat during Australia's second innings in the Lord's Test despite suffering from a calf injury. Notably, Lyon walked off the field match after pulling his right calf muscle on day two of the Test match. As a result of the injury, he couldn't bowl adequate overs in England's first innings and entered the venue with crutches before the third day's play.

Considering Lyon's miserable situation, it was expected that he wouldn't come out to bat in Australia's second innings. However, the veteran tweaker showcased exemplary team-man spirit by deciding to bat with an injured leg. Following his gutsy call, the 35-year-old earned massive praise, as the Lord's crowd gave him a standing ovation for his bravery and commitment.

The crafty seamer survived thirteen deliveries and even smashed a boundary, leaving Australian skipper Pat Cummins awestruck. However, his brief stay was put to an end by veteran English seamer Stuart Broad, who dismissed him to bowl Australia out for 279 in their second innings. Thus, Australia set a challenging target of 371 runs before the tea break was taken on day four.
