Australia's young batting sensation Sam Konstas has had an eventful Test debut in Melbourne Cricket Ground. The stylish right-hander, who stunned India with audacious stroke play on day 1 of the game, had a go at legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli while fielding near the boundary.
The incident occurred just after the conclusion of the 52nd over when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant were battling it out for India in the middle. As Nathan Lyon completed the tenth over of his spell, Konstas was seen interacting with the Australian fans near the boundary rope.
As the crowd cheered for him, Konstas entertained them by his unique shoulder moves, taking a jibe at Indian cricketing great Virat Kohli. For the unversed, Kohli shouldered Konstas when he was batting magnificently on the opening day of the Test match.
The talismanic Indian cricketer was even found guilty of breaching article 2.12 of ICC code of conduct and committing a level one offence. So, Konstas's gesture was nothing but a dig at Kohli, who failed with the bat in both innings of the Test match.
Konstas has been on firing line of Indian fans for not only rattling ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah but also playing the game in a unique Australian way. The youngster has been quite chirpy while fielding, bringing energy on the field with his unique antics.
Jaiswal, Pant Safely Negotiate 2nd Session
Regarding the game, India avoided further hiccups in the post-lunch session after losing three wickets early up front. As of writing, the visitors were 112 for three in 54 overs, with Pant and Jaiswal unbeaten in the middle.
