David Warner was dismissed for the final time in Test cricket for Australia late in the home team's run-chase in the New Year's Test against Pakistan on Day 4 at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (January 6).

The Australian left-hander was treated with a huge round of applause from the packed and emotional crowd gathered at Warner's home ground after he was dismissed LBW by Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan.

Warner, who had smashed an enterprising knock of 57 off 75 deliveries in Australia's quest to hunt down the measly 130-run target set by Pakistan in the series finale, wasn't initially given by the standing umpire.

However, a successful review by Sajid and Pakistan forced him to make the long walk back for one last time in Test cricket. The cricketer was given a wonderful send-off with pats on the back and best wishes given by the opposition side while the packed crowd stood up and saluted one of their dearest.

The cameras panned immediately to the ladies' stands, where Warner's wife Candice and his three little daughters were seen rising and clapping for the man of the house. The Pakistani side then kindly joined in the reception for the explosive opener and clapped wholeheartedly for him.

As he reached the ropes, Warner kissed his helmet and turned around to raise his bat and take salutations from the SCG crowd for the last time. The commentators hailed the cricketer and called his a "remarkable" Test career for Australia.

Warner, who had laid bare his desire to end his Test career at the SCG, finished off an emotional series with a fantastic half-century in his last innings.

The 37-year-old summed up his long, extravagant stint in the middle in red-ball cricket with another entertaining act and pushed Australia to a 3-0 series whitewash over Pakistan.
