Saim Ayub made a mess of a simple catch as he dropped a dolly to give Marco Jansen a lifeline in the Boxing-Day Test at Centurion. The Pakistan player had the simplest of chance to grab the catch at the gully, but he spilled it and that made Mohammad Rizwan angry.

Pakistan bowlers were at their absolute best on Day 2 of the Test match as they churned out wickets at regular intervals. The visitors had already scalped 3 wickets on Day 1, but after that, Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma had a brief partnership.

However, once that was broken, the Pakistan pacers found the inroad and grabbed one wicket after another. Naseem Shah, the right-arm seamer looked in good rhythm as he was steaming in hard and had the chance to dismiss Marco Jansen, but that wasn't the case. The outside-edge went straight to Saim in the gully position as the fielder crouched low and failed to catch the ball. Rizwan looked shell-shocked as the catch could have been taken easily.

Luckily for Pakistan, it turned out that Naseem Shah had overstepped and even if Saim had grabbed the ball, it would have been called a no-ball.

Markram fights lone battle as Pakistan run riot

Pakistan were dismissed for a paltry 211 and it was expected that South African batters would put up a better fight, but that wasn't the case. They lost 3 wickets on Day 1, before Markram and Bavuma steadied the ship.

However, Bavuma's wicket changed the course of the match as David Bedingham followed him back after a quick-fire knock and the team has already lost 7 wickets for 202 runs.
