Team India completed a 3-0 demolition of West Indies Women in the ODIs to finish off the year 2024 on an emphatic note. Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma and fast bowler Renuka Singh played starring roles on the field in India’s five-wicket victory at Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium.

Here’s the timeline of how IND-W vs WI-W panned out in Vadodara:

IND-W vs WI-W Highlights: Renuka Singh Rocks WI Top-Order With 3 Wickets In 3 Overs

Indian seamer Renuka Singh Thakur made the new ball talk straightaway by getting rid of West Indies opener Qiana Joseph for a first-ball duck. A couple of deliveries later in the same opening over of the match, Renuka also knocked over West Indies captain and in-form opener Hayley Matthews, also for a duck.

The Indian speedster further trapped seasoned West Indies campaigner Deandra Dottin for a sluggish five as the visitors crashed to 9-3 inside the first five overs of the match.

IND-W vs WI-W Highlights: Deepti Sharma Takes Six To Skittle WI For 162

Shemaine Campbelle at number three resurrected West Indies innings with a fighting 46 off 62 balls. Campbelle’s 91-run partnership with Chinelle Henry took the visitors to the three-figure threshold, before the wicketkeeper-batter got holed out at long on by Pratika Rawal off Deepti Sharma.

Henry went on to top score in the innings with a cunning 61 from 72 balls, restoring some stability to the West Indies total as Sharma unleashed mayhem from her end of the bowling crease. The crafty Indian spinner picked up six wickets in her 10-over spell, conceding just 31 runs in the process with three maidens. With West Indies down at 162-9, Renuka Singh cleaned up Ashmini Munisar in one of her return spells to seal figures of 4-29 from her 9.5 overs.

IND-W vs WI-W Highlights: Indian Top-Order Falter In Easy Chase

West Indies new ball pacer Aaliyah Alleyne snapped Smriti Mandhana’s prolific run with the bat by getting the Indian opener for just four in the sixth over of the run-chase. Harleen Deol, a couple of days after scoring a match-winning century for India, was also dismissed for just a single, albeit to Deandra Dottin.

Pratika Rawal punched out 18 runs from 23 balls but the youngster failed to capitalize her start as the temptation to go big off Hayley Matthews became her undoing in the 10th over. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur fought off tumbling wickets from her end with a swift 22-ball 32 but her resistance was halted by West Indies spinner Afy Fletcher as the hosts slipped to 73-4 in 13 overs.

IND-W vs WI-W Highlights: Deepti Sharma Anchors Chase, Ghosh Provides Finishing Touches

With all top four batters back in the hut at the end of the first 13 overs, middle-order star Jemimah Rodrigues staged India’s recovery with a match-defining 56-run partnership with all-rounder Deepti Sharma. Rodrigues worked her way through 45 deliveries to score 29 runs before her attempted sweep handed Karishma Ramharack a crucial breakthrough for the visitors.

Sharma, however, remained unbeaten till the end to score 39* from 48 balls, thus capping a remarkable all-round and a ‘Player of the Match’ performance for herself.

Richa Ghosh clobbered a boundary and three sixes towards the closing stages in her 11-ball 23*-run cameo as India romped to a five-wicket victory in just 28.2 overs.
