Indian captain Rohit Sharma once again became the victim of a bad DRS call after he reluctantly opted for a review against English skipper Ben Stokes on Day 3 of the Ranchi Test.

While spinner Ravindra Jadeja urged Sharma to go for a review, television replays indicated that the ball's impact was in line with the leg stump, thus saving Stokes via umpire's call.

Interestingly, Sharma's speech that transpired moments before taking the call upstairs left the entire commentary box in splits.

During the 30th over of the second English innings on Day 3, Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja seemingly trapped Ben Stokes in front of the stumps. However, he had his appeal turned down by the on-field umpire.

Jadeja subsequently urged his captain Rohit Sharma to take a DRS call. With several Indian players converging around the two cricketers, wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel suggested that the ball was sliding down the leg side. In contrast, Kuldeep Yadav sided with his spin mate Jadeja.

With a mere few seconds left on the clock, Captain Sharma urged his teammates to think quickly. Caught on stump mic, he can be heard saying:

“Kuch seconds baaki hain, sab log dimaag lagao.” (Only a few seconds left; put your heads together)

While Rohit Sharma eventually opted for a review, unsuccessfully no less, his panicking moment of discussion ignited much laughter among on-air commentators at the time, Dinesh Karthik and Deep Dasgupta.

Regardless, Ben Stokes was knocked over by Kuldeep Yadav a while later for just four. His dismissal further reduced the Englishmen down to 120-5 before losing a few more wickets to concede the Day 3 advantage to the Indians.

Earlier in the day, India extended their overnight total of 219-7 to 307 all out off the back of Dhruv Jurel's dazzling 90. His knock kept India's first-innings deficit down to just 46 runs.
