In the ongoing 4th Test match between India and England in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, accomplished significant milestones in his cricket career.

During the match, Rohit surpassed 4000 runs in Test cricket, becoming the 17th Indian player to achieve this feat.

Notably, he reached this landmark in his 58th Test match, making him the 10th fastest among Indian players to do so. Rohit, who debuted in Test cricket in 2013, currently boasts an impressive average of over 44 in the format.

Initially starting as a middle-order batsman, Rohit transitioned to an opener in 2019. This strategic move proved fruitful, as he has since become a mainstay opener for India in Test cricket.

His highest Test score of 212 runs came against South Africa in 2019. Rohit's dominance was on full display in the recent match against England in Rajkot, where he scored his third Test century against the English team.

During the Ranchi Test, Rohit crossed the 4000-run milestone and reached 1000 runs against England in Test cricket. This makes England the first team against whom Rohit has amassed over 1000 Test runs.

In his 13 Test matches against England, with an average of 46.04, Rohit has faced 1954 balls, which is the most he has faced against any nation, demonstrating his ability to withstand the toughest of bowling attacks.

At the end of day 3 in the Ranchi Test, India was positioned at 40/0, needing 152 more runs to secure victory against England.
