Namibia's decision to bowl first in their match against Oman at Kensington Oval proved highly effective, primarily due to the exceptional performance of left-arm seamer Ruben Trumpelmann. His opening spell was lethal, putting the Oman batters on the back foot from the very beginning.

On the very first ball of the match, Trumpelmann bowled a deadly in-swinger that trapped Kashyap Prajapati on the front leg, resulting in a dismissal.

He continued his brilliant form with an inch-perfect yorker that struck Aaqib Ilyas on the toes and got him LBW. The Oman batter reviewed the decision, but the on-field umpire's call stood.

Trumpelmann's third wicket came during the powerplay, in his third over. Bowling around the wicket, he delivered a good length ball that pitched outside the off stump and nipped back in sharply.

Naseem Khushi, attempted a big shot over the infield, only managed to edge the ball high into the air, where it was comfortably caught by Gerhard Erasmus at mid-off.

This exceptional start from the speedster, with three wickets in the powerplay, severely dented Oman's confidence and left their batters struggling against Namibia's top-quality bowling attack.

Zeeshan Maqsood had a solid start to his innings with some good shots. However, he couldn't convert his start into a big score, with Bernard Scholtz outsmarting him with a brilliant ripper to scalp his wicket. At the time of writing, Oman were tottering 73/5, desperately needing a good partnership.
