Known for taking brilliant on-field catches, Netherlands cricketer Roelof van der Merwe displayed his agile best for Barbados Royal against Trinbago Knight Riders today when both teams clashed at Port of Spain.

Van der Merwe has a reputation for being the swiftest of fielders and showed both acrobatics and presence of mind to dismiss batter Mark Deyal on the deep mid-wicket boundary line.
Deyal pulled a skier off Kyle Mayers towards the deep mid-wicket region, where a stationed van der Merwe first catches the ball just millimetres away from the boundary cushions, lobs it back in the air, and safely holds on to the ball for the second time to complete the catch.

The 38-year-old all-rounder, who has made it to the Netherlands' World Cup squad, scored 20 runs in the Royal's unsuccessful chase of 209. Van der Merwe, in CPL 2023, has scored 34 runs and grabbed five wickets in six outings for the Royals.
Earlier, Van der Merwe grabbed eyeballs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 for his magnificent catching effort against South Africa to dismiss David Miller.
