Virat Kohli Becomes The 2nd Richest Athlete In Asia; Here Are All The Details

Former Indian skipper and superstar cricketer Virat Kohli has been listed as the 2nd richest Athlete from Asia in the list of top-100 highest paid sports persons in the world 2022, as per Sportico.

Kohli, 34, has a net worth of over 1000 crores, and he is at the 61st spot in the global rankings.

According to Sportico, the ace Indian cricketer earned $2.9 million through his national team and IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore contracts and match fees. Kohli takes home INR 7 Crores annually as he is a part of A+ bracket in the BCCI contract retainers. In addition to this, the champion cricketer also earns INR 15 Crores via his IPL contract.

The major chunk of Virat's earnings comes from brand endorsements as reflected in his total earnings for the year 2022. Kohli, who charges INR 8 crores for every promotional post on Instagram, earned a whopping $31 million from his endorsements last year.

Overall, Virat is not only pipped by Japanese Tennis player, Naomi Osaka, whose total earnings are estimated at $53.2 million.

Meanwhile, Kohli endured a memorable Test series against the West Indies recently as he smashed his 29th Test ton in his 500th international game for the country.The 34-year-old will look to emulate the same in the upcoming three-match ODI series.
