The 3rd ODI between West Indies and Bangladesh was packed with action. Although the Bengal Tigers were swept in the series, the last ODI was an exciting match worth watching, with no one holding back.
Besides the match being filled with sixes and boundaries Rishad Hossain's stunner of a catch stole the spotlight. Roston Chase from the host's side was left speechless as it was hard to believe the catch that Hossain took.
On the first ball of the 37th over, Rishad Hossain delivered a looping ball that was pitched outside the off-stump. Chase, attempting a casual drive, mistimed his shot, sending the ball straight to Rishad. Hossain, having just completed his follow-through, quickly reacted by grabbing the ball in the air, showcasing his remarkable athleticism and reflexes.
Chase, who was not impressive with the bat at that time, was sent back to the sheds for 12 runs leaving the Indies at 234-6.
West Indies Stomps Visitors With 3-0 Series Sweep
However, Chase's wicket didn't dent West Indies' batting firepower as they already had a grip on the chase. In the match, Shai Hope and Co. won the toss and chose to bowl first at Warner Park. Soumya Sarkar (73) and skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz (77) stood strong against Indies bowlers to anchor the innings.
After they faltered at 24th and 30th over respectively, Mahmudullah Riyadh picked up the inning and smashed 7 boundaries and 4 sixes to notch up a hefty 84 off 63 balls. Jaker Ali also contributed with his 62 to put up a challenging total of 321 runs on the board.
However, it was not the best day for the Bengal Tigers as Shai Hope's pack dominated with the bat and chased the target within 45.5 overs. Though the openers faltered, Keacy Carty's blazing 95 off 88 and Amir Jangoo's (104) sheer madness with the bat helped Indies close their third-highest successful chase in ODIs comfortably.
In their bowling squad, Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets and Jangoo, for his savage destruction with the bat, was given the Player of the Match.
After the series sweep, West Indies will be heading for a three-match T20 series against Bangladesh. The first T20I will be held at Arnos Vale Stadium, on December 16.
