On December 12, Amir Jangoo entered international cricket with a bang , when he helped the West Indies win a thriller by four wickets over Bangladesh in the third ODI. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter hailing from Trinidad achieved an extraordinary feat as he scored an unbeaten 104 runs off just 83 balls. His century not only guided the West Indies to a successful chase of 322 runs but also etched his name in the record books.

Fastest Century On ODI Debut

Amir Jangoo's 100 runs in just 80 balls marked him as the fastest centurion on ODI debut. He broke the previous record held by South Africa's Reeza Hendricks, who took 89 balls for his century. This scintillating knock comprised six fours and 12 four sixes as Jangoo formed crucial partnerships, notably a 132-run stand with Keacy Carty (95) and an unbroken 91-run partnership with Gudakesh Motie (44*).

By achieving this milestone, Jangoo became only the second West Indies player after the legend Desmond Haynes to make a century on ODI debut. Haynes, who was one of the game's greatest players, scored 148 runs in his first match back in 1978. Eventually, Jangoo's fantastic batting ensured that the West Indies won the series 3-0.
