Fearless Pant takes on Starc, Launches sensational six in high-stakes chase

The audacious stroke came in the fifth over off Mitchell Starc's full-length delivery, angling down the leg side, which Rishabh Pant flicked with impeccable timing, sending the ball soaring over fine leg for a maximum.

Pant's fearless six was a bold statement, especially with the Delhi Capitals reeling under the pressure of a daunting chase.

Tasked with a Herculean target of 273 runs set by KKR, Delhi had already seen their top order crumble, losing four key batsmen early in their innings. Despite the abysmal situation and the mounting odds, Pant stepped up, showcasing his willingness to fight fire with fire.

The chase commenced on a sombre note for Delhi, as their top-order batters found themselves back in the pavillion without much to show on the scoreboard.

Prithvi Shaw departed early for 10, falling prey to Vaibhav Arora, while Mitchell Starc broke his dry spell of the tournament by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for a duck.

The wicket-taking spree continued with Arora claiming the scalp of Abhishek Porel, and Starc rounding off his attack by sending David Warner packing for 13.

At the time of writing this article, with Delhi Capitals at 51/4 after six overs, Pant, alongside Tristan Stubbs, find themselves staring down the barrel with a colossal 222 runs still needed from merely 84 balls.

With the required run rate nearly at an astronomical 16 per over, a victory seems like a distant dream. Yet, with Pant in the middle, the team will aim to bat through, seeking to narrow the margin and mitigate any potential damage to their net run rate.
