In the final ODI between India and West Indies Women, held at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara on December 27, Renuka Singh stole the show with her brilliant bowling performance. The India right-arm medium-fast bowler was at her best, taking her third wicket and removing the dangerous Deandra Dottin.
India was asked to bat first, and they made an early impact with the ball. The West Indies’ Qiana Joseph was dismissed for a golden duck, making it a perfect start for India. Renuka Singh then took charge, continuing to make inroads into the West Indies batting lineup. She dismissed Hayley Matthews for a silver duck, leaving the visitors reeling at 9 for 3 in the 5th over.
But it was Renuka's delivery to Deandra Dottin that truly turned the tide in India’s favor. In what seemed like a routine moment, Renuka bowled a perfect inswinger around off-stump. Dottin, trying to heave the ball across the line, missed the shot, and the ball crashed into the stumps. Dottin was out for just 5, visibly frustrated, as she punched the turf in anger before trudging off to the pavilion.
West Indies Struggle Against India
At the time of writing, West Indies are in a tough spot, at 24 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 3 overs. With key players like Shemaine Campbelle and Chinelle Henry at the crease, the West Indies Women were facing a daunting challenge to avoid a clean sweep from India.
If they lose this match, it will mark their sixth consecutive loss in ODIs, a result they will be desperate to avoid. India, on the other hand, will be aiming to continue their dominance and secure a clean sweep in this series.
