The Melbourne Stars is playing against the Sydney Sixers in the 28th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Stars, batting first, found themselves in early trouble after a shaky start. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, a scintillating display of batting prowess from their captain Glenn Maxwell brought the crowd to its feet.

Maxwell and Webster Lead The Fightback

Winning the toss, the Sixers elected to bowl first, a decision that paid dividends early in the game. Melbourne Stars' openers, Ben Duckett and Sam Harper, failed to make a significant impact. The middle order also failed to fire, with Daniel Lawrence and skipper Marcus Stoinis dismissed cheaply. 

Glenn Maxwell, the 'Big Show,' once again proved why he is regarded as one of the most dynamic batters. Playing alongside with Beau Webster, Maxwell constructed a remarkable recovery. 

Glenn Maxwell Turns The Tide

In the 13th over Glenn Maxwell unleashed an extraordinary reverse ramp shot that left everyone at the MCG in awe. Facing Ben Dwarshuis, Maxwell pulled off a jaw-dropping six, to a full toss delivery outside the off-stump. The ball rocketed off the middle of his bat and soared 74 meters over deep backward point for a stunning maximum. 

At the time of writing, the Melbourne Stars had reached 156/5, with Maxwell unbeaten on 58* and Beau Webster playing a brilliant supporting role. The duo's partnership not only steadied the ship but also set the platform for a competitive total.
