Najmul Hossain Shanto went in full rage mode against Bangladesh’s rising pace sensation Nahid Rana in match number 13 of the BPL 2024-25 season. Taking field at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on a trail of three successive low scores, Shanto charted a fiery 41 from just 30 balls with five boundaries and a six during his 81-run opening partnership with Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal.

Najmul Hossain Shanto takes 14 out of Rana’s over
Struggling Fortune Barishal opener Najmul Hossain Shanto attained his batting form with a scintillating 41-run knock from just 30 balls against Rangpur Riders in match 13 of the BPL 2024-25 season. Remarkably, Shanto extracted 14 of those runs from a single Nahid Rana over as Barishal raced to 46-0 by the end of the opening powerplay.
Najmul Hossain Shanto was eventually dismissed by Rangpur Riders fast bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi in the 11th over of the innings. The blistering opening batter, who recently stepped down as Bangladesh’s T20I captain, scored 41 runs during his fiery top-order cameo from just 30 balls with five boundaries and a six.
Shanto’s knock helped the Fortune Barishal scale the 100-run mark in just 12.2 overs, and around the 150-run mark before the strategic timeout as induced at the end of the 16th over. His partner and team captain Tamim Iqbal himself carted 40 runs off 34 balls, while Kyle Mayers provided Barishal the much-needed acceleration in the backend of the innings.
Earlier in the match, Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan won the toss and opted to field first.
