Australia star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, known for his big-hitting ability, had a tough day at the crease during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) match between the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Melbourne Stars captain was dismissed for just 4 runs off 9 balls, leaving his team struggling to build momentum.

Sixers Strike Early Vs Stars

After winning the toss, Sydney Sixers opted to bowl first and immediately put pressure on the Melbourne Stars’ batting lineup. Jack Edwards was the first to go, followed by Ben Duckett, leaving the Stars at 20/2 early in the innings.

Marcus Stoinis came to the crease after Daniel Lawrence’s dismissal, hoping to steady the ship. However, Sixers’ pacer Sean Abbott made an impact in the 10th over.

On the third ball of the over, Abbott bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off. Stoinis attempted to play a backfoot shot but edged the ball to wicketkeeper Josh Philippe, who took an easy catch. Stoinis’ departure left the Stars in deeper trouble as they lost their fourth wicket.

Stars Struggle to Find Rhythm

The early dismissals left Melbourne Stars on the back foot. Losing a key player like Stoinis for just 4 runs added to their woes, making it difficult for them to build a solid partnership.

At the time of writing, Melbourne Stars were at 120/4, with captain Glenn Maxwell and Beau Webster leading the recovery. Maxwell remained unbeaten on 37*, while Webster was on 38*, as they tried to steer the Stars to a competitive total.
