India's star fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is facing uncertainty over his participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. It is important to mention that, Bumrah was sidelined during the final Test against Australia in Sydney due to back spasms and he underwent medical consultations and scans.

However, according to recent report by Hindustan Times, Jasprit Bumrah has consulted renowned New Zealand-based orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rowan Schouten, for his recurring back issues. The surgeon is reportedly in close contact with the BCCI's medical team. A final decision on Bumrah's availability will depend on his recovery and ability to bowl without pain.

"The surgeon is in touch with BCCI's medical team and the selectors are expected to be informed."

The report further stated that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is expected to name the speedster in the provisional 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy

However, his inclusion in the final squad will be subject to a fitness clearance. Several reports also claim that Bumrah is also likely to miss the upcoming white-ball series against England.

The uncertainty surrounding Bumrah's availability presents a challenge for the selectors, who must finalise a balanced bowling attack for the much-awaited tournament in Dubai. If Bumrah is absent for the Champions Trophy it would be a significant blow to India's chances.

In the absence of Bumrah, Mohammed Shami could be included in the squad considering his fitness. The Bengal's fast bowler has been in good form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and have made valuable contribution.

His performances have raised hopes about his fitness and potential inclusion in the Champions Trophy squad. However, Shami is still awaiting medical clearance from the NCA.
