The last-minute thrillers are always nerve-wracking for the audience and so it is for the players on the ground as well. Vadodara erupted as Arundhati Reddy’s desperate dive clinched a nail-biting last-ball win for Delhi Capitals Women in Match 2 of WPL 2025.

In a finish so heart-stopping it left fans gasping, the Delhi Capitals Women snatched victory from the jaws of a Super Over, defeating the Mumbai Indians Women by two wickets off the final ball of a chaotic chase.

Arundhati Reddy Pulls Off Exceptional Dive To Clinch Win

Needing two runs to win with Reddy on strike, the Capitals’ No. 9 batter lofted Sajeevan Sajana’s loopy delivery over extra cover, sprinted like her life depended on it, and stretched every sinew to beat Harmanpreet Kaur’s arguably 'sloppy' throw to the keeper.

The TV umpire gave out the verdict of a Not Out, by a margin thinner than a blade of grass. Vadodara erupted with joy as Delhi’s dugout displayed raw emotions, while Mumbai’s stars sank to their knees, gutted by a loss that’ll haunt them for seasons.

The win, which once was seen as impossible after Delhi's constant tumbles was clinched by a positive-spirited Arundhati and Radha Yadav as they roared in full passion after claiming the match.

The Rollercoaster Ride From Carnage to Climax

Earlier, Mumbai’s innings was a tale of two halves: Nat Sciver-Brunt’s masterclass (80 off 59) and Harmanpreet’s blitz (42 off 22) lifted them to 164, only for Annabel Sutherland (3/34) and Shikha Pandey (2/14) to trigger a collapse.

Delhi’s reply began explosively, Shafali Verma (43 off 18) smashed seven fours and two sixes, but Mumbai clawed back with wickets, reducing Delhi to 76/4. Enter Alice Capsey (28 off 20) and Niki Prasad (22 off 18), whose gritty 54-run stand set up the grandstand finish.

Sciver-Brunt, Mumbai’s lone warrior, sank to the turf, her 80 and 1/23 with the ball in vain. For Delhi, Shafali’s pyrotechnics and Capsey’s ice-cool nerves shone, but Reddy’s dive will dominate headlines for the next few days.
