Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Bangladesh's stand-in skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto on Thursday (October 19) during India's crucial World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh in Pune. The 34-year-old, coming to bowl the 20th over of the Tigers' innings, pinned Shanto leg-before to give the Men in Blue an all-important breakthrough.
It was a back-of-a-length delivery by Jadeja clocked at 93.2 kph, which was pitched around the off stump region. Shanto went for a defensive shot while going back foot, but was beaten by the spin completely.
Jadeja was so confident as soon as the ball hit Shanto’s pads that he went for a celebratory run before even appealing. The on-field was agreed with Jadeja as well, and raised his finger soon after.
Shanto was having a discussion with Litton Das for challenging the decision. However, his body language was like he knew he was gone, and therefore, there was no need to burn a DRS.
As a result, the Bangladeshi skipper, who led in Shakib Al Hasan's absence, fell for a paltry 17-ball 8.
