In what could be a massive setback for team India, ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya sustained a scary ankle injury during the ongoing World Cup encounter against Bangladesh in Pune. While bowling his first over, Hardik tried to stop a glorious drive off Tanzid Hasan's bat using his foot. However, he fell awkwardly on the ground while doing so, injuring himself in this process.

After consulting with the physio, the ace Indian all-rounder walked off the field, with veteran batter Virat Kohli completing his over.

Meanwhile, as India continue their battle against the Tigers, commentator Nasser Hussain confirmed on air that Pandya has been taken for scans and his participation in the game will depend on the extent of his injury. Hussain also clarified that Pandya won't bowl in this match; however, he could come out to bat if needed during the second half of the game.

Hardik's injury could adversely affect India's World Cup campaign, considering his incredible contribution for the team as an all-rounder over the years. In his unavailability, it will be interesting to see how Indian captain Rohit Sharma uses his remaining resources to make up for his overs.
